Delhi places students within a capital city where Mughal, colonial and contemporary India sit side by side across a few kilometres, and where the questions of urban inequality that shape a volunteering programme are visible rather than abstract. For groups departing Dubai it is a short flight of roughly three and a half hours, making it a practical destination for a service-learning week with substantial cultural content built in.
Delhi supports meaningful placement work alongside a strong programme of site visits: the National Museum on Janpath, the National Gandhi Museum opposite Raj Ghat, and Gandhi Smriti on Tees January Marg give students the historical and ethical grounding for service work. Established organisations across the city, including the community kitchen at Gurudwara Bangla Sahib in Connaught Place, welcome supervised groups and show students institutional charity at scale. Contrasting districts — the planned avenues of Lutyens' Delhi, the lanes of Shahjahanabad around Chandni Chowk, and the urban villages of Hauz Khas and Nizamuddin Basti — make questions of development and access tangible on foot.

Volunteering
Placements run with community education and environmental partners across the city, supported by visits to Gandhi Smriti, the langar at Gurudwara Bangla Sahib and the heritage-and-livelihoods regeneration work in Nizamuddin Basti beside Humayun's Tomb.
When to travel
Delhi has a hot semi-arid climate with genuine extremes: intense dry heat before the monsoon, humid rain in high summer, and cool mornings in winter that can bring dense fog. Air quality is poorest from late October through January, and groups should plan indoor and early-morning activity accordingly.
Spring
February to AprilWarm, dry and clear in February and March; April turns sharply hot by midday.
Summer
May to AugustExtreme heat then monsoon humidity and downpours; not advised for outdoor placements.
Autumn
September to NovemberPleasant from late September; air quality declines steeply through November.
Winter
December to JanuaryCool and comfortable but foggy mornings and poor air quality can disrupt plans.
