OverviewAbout this trip
This seven-day programme in Belgium links classroom study of business, economics and politics to the institutions and industries that shape modern Europe. Students visit the European Parliament and Parlamentarium to see how legislation, budgets and trade policy are decided, explore monetary policy and financial stability at an economics-focused visit such as the Museum of the National Bank of Belgium, and — subject to confirmation — meet business professionals to discuss international trade, finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, sustainability and career pathways.
Wider cultural and historical context is built in throughout. Guided walking tours of Brussels, Antwerp, Bruges and Ghent examine how trade, shipping, textiles and the diamond industry generated urban wealth, while the House of European History, Mini-Europe, the KMSKA and the augmented-reality Ghent Altarpiece experience at St Bavo's Cathedral connect European integration, art and cultural identity. A Belgian chocolate workshop introduces the cocoa supply chain, branding and quality in a globally recognised industry.
The group flies from Dubai to Brussels on EK183 on Monday 15 March, departing 0830 and arriving 1245, and returns on EK184 from Brussels at 1455 on Sunday 21 March, arriving in Dubai at 0025. Accommodation is in a Brussels hotel for six nights with breakfast, dinners are taken at local restaurants, and private coach transport supports the day excursions. Day 4 appointments with companies, institutions and academic partners remain subject to availability and confirmation. Guided groups in Bruges are limited to 20 participants per guide, so two guides will be required if the final group exceeds 20.
