Overview

About this trip

This six-day language trip to Barcelona is designed to build students' confidence in Spanish through real-life interaction, combining formal language lessons with cultural experiences and guided sightseeing. Students practise their Spanish with native speakers while developing independence, cultural awareness and teamwork.

The programme links language learning to culture and history: a Spanish language lesson and a hands-on cooking class, a flamenco workshop with professional performers, and visits to the Gothic Quarter, Sagrada Família, Park Güell and Montjuïc's Olympic Ring. Free time in markets, shops and cafés is structured to give students authentic opportunities to order food and speak with local vendors.

Travel is with Emirates from Dubai, with a choice of flight times on 13 and 18 June 2027, private coach transport throughout and the services of an English-speaking guide each day. A range of central Barcelona hotels is offered, with single rooms for teachers and twin rooms for students, and supervised free time is built into the shopping and market visits. The quoted price is based on 20 students, with three teacher places free of charge.

Cultural awareness

Customs & norms in Spain

A little cultural fluency goes a long way — these are the habits your hosts will notice and appreciate.

  • Meal times run late: lunch around 2pm, dinner rarely before 9pm.
  • Greetings are warm — expect two kisses on the cheek in social settings.
  • Cover shoulders and knees for cathedrals and churches.
