Spanish Language Trip — Barcelona

Arrival and Gothic Quarter walking tour

Arrive at Barcelona El Prat Airport, complete airport formalities and transfer by private coach to the hotel (standard check-in is 15:00, with luggage storage available if rooms are not ready). The first activity is a three-hour Gothic walking tour taking in the Cathedral of Barcelona, Las Ramblas, La Boqueria Market and the ancient Roman and medieval streets, providing an introduction to the city's history, architecture and traditions. Free time follows before dinner at a local restaurant and the return to the hotel.

Spanish language lesson and cooking class

After breakfast at the hotel, students take a three-hour Spanish language lesson as an introduction to the language skills they will use throughout the week. Following lunch, a three-hour Spanish cooking class with professional chefs covers traditional paella and local dishes, combining teamwork, culinary traditions and language practice, before the group enjoys the meal they have prepared. Free time, dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Camp Nou, Montjuïc, Poble Espanyol and flamenco

A 45-minute drive to Camp Nou, home of FC Barcelona, with access to the FC Barcelona Museum, its trophies, interactive exhibits and audiovisual displays, plus panoramic stadium viewpoints. Lunch near the ground, then on to Montjuïc to explore the Olympic Ring of the 1992 Games, gardens, viewpoints and the Magic Fountain area, including a ride on the Telefèric de Montjuïc cable car. The group then visits Poble Espanyol, an open-air cultural village with traditional architecture, artisan workshops and cafés, followed by an interactive flamenco workshop led by professional performers covering basic steps, rhythm and palmas. The evening concludes with a traditional tapas or set-menu dinner before returning to the hotel.

Gaudí, Passeig de Gràcia and La Boqueria

After breakfast, visit the Sagrada Família to study Gaudí's architecture, stained glass and symbolism, then continue to Park Güell with its mosaics, sculptures and city views, allowing time for exploration, photography and creative activities. Lunch around Passeig de Gràcia and La Rambla, followed by time on the Passeig de Gràcia boulevard and at La Rambla and Mercat de la Boqueria, with free time, shopping and conversational Spanish practice with local vendors. The afternoon ends at the rooftop café of El Corte Inglés Plaça de Catalunya before dinner at a local restaurant and the return to the hotel.

An early departure from the hotel, around 8am, for the drive of just under two hours to PortAventura World in time for opening. Students enjoy the rollercoasters, themed lands inspired by cultures around the world, live shows and interactive attractions, with lunch and dinner included in the park. The group leaves at around 7pm, arriving back in Barcelona at approximately 9pm.

Central Barcelona shopping and departure

Check out after a final breakfast and travel by coach to central Barcelona around Portal de l'Àngel, La Rambla and the Gothic Quarter for supervised free time, last-minute shopping and further conversational Spanish practice with local vendors and cafés. The visit may conclude at the rooftop café of El Corte Inglés Plaça de Catalunya before the coach transfer to the airport for the return flight to Dubai.
